Show Low bidder listed for CUP tunnels A Denver-based firm is the apparent low bidder for the Hades and Rhoades tunnels construction, a part of the Central Utah Project. The bids were opened by the Water and Power Resource Sercie in Duchesne. Harrison-Western Company submitted a sealed bid for $34,681,703. This compares with the engineers' estimate of $35 million. The project calls for construction of a 4.2-mile aqueduct for the Hades tunnel section and an eight-tenths of a mile Rhodes tunnel. Completion will be within 1,660 days. The finished diameter of the tunnels will be seven feet, nine inches and will be concrete lined. Included in the project is construction of a 240-foot, 78-inch 78-inch diameter Wolf Creek siphon. These projects are located approximately ap-proximately 50 miles northwest of Duchesne and are a segment of the 37-mile 37-mile Strawberry Aqueduct project that will transport water from the Stillwater Reservoir also in northwestern Duchesne County. |
