Show Ashley playground project An effort is underway by the PTA of the Ashley Elementary School to construct riimbing structures at the school's playground. Linda Mitchell and Debra Brady, past and present PTA presidents said that plans have been prepared by Brent Hanchett. The fathers will meet June 14 at 8 a.m. at Ashley School before going as a group up on the mountain to cut and haul logs. Mr. Hanchett has indicated that we will need approximately 100 lodge pole pine trees 6" to 12" in diameter to complete the project. The National Guard and School District will aid the project in providing equipment to haul the logs and sand to prepare the site for the construction. During the months of June and July, the logs will be treated to prevent decay, and weak spots, slivers and sharp edges will be removed. Plans are to assemble the logs on the playground during the latter part of the summer. The climbing structures will include a balance beam, bridge, tire swings and ladder. They are being designed and constructed with the children's imagination and safety in mind. We would appreciate all those who would be willing to donate their time and services on this project to conucl Linda Mitchell at 789-5977 or Debra Brady at 789-3328. |
