Show Jensen I Gladys Peterson I Phone 789-1945 I Wedding performed overlooking Brush Creek An outdoor wedding took place Saturday, Satur-day, June 7 at 2 p.m. The ceremony was performed overlooking the Brush Creek valley; The occasion united in marriage Joreen Hendricks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Johnson of St. George, Utah, and Earnest Booker son of Mrs. Hilda DuPuy and Mr. Earnest J. Booker of Salt Lake City. The wedding took place at the Clay Johnson residence. The bride's brother and wife were hosting the event. The decor was planned and done by the bride and Dusty Johnson. The colors chosen were blue and white. Long garlands were draped around the sun porch of the home. A podium was made, and set in the yard, it was decorated with a large bow and draped with a garland. A bouquet of white gladiolus and blue carnations set in front. The bride wore a beautiful white gown which she had made for the occasion. The best man was Clay Johnson and the matron of honor was Dusty Johnson, who was attired in a blue and white gingham checked gown trimmed in lace. Clint Hendricks was the ring bearer. Travis and Tye Johnson were the ushers. After the ceremony the guests were served cake and punch. The wedding cake was made and decorated by Ann Peterson. It was off-white off-white with light blue rose clusters and buds, and it sparkled with a splashing fountain in the center. The top was a double wedding ring towering over two white doves. The bride and Groom are planning to make their home in Jensen. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Snow are happy to have their son and family, the Doyle Snows, visit them from Midland, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Casperson are the parents of a baby girl born June 2, 1980 in the Roosevelt hospital. They will name their new baby Carrie Ann. Carrie Car-rie Ann has one brother and two sisters awaiting her arrival home. The grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Owen Casperson Casper-son of Preston, Id., and Mr. and Mrs. Meril Snow of Jensen. Also she has great grandparents who are Mr. and Mrs. Newell Snow of Jensen. Brandon Casperson is spending a few days with his grandparents, the Meril Snows. Congratulations go to Re'nee Chew who graduated from Utah State University. Univer-sity. She majored in home economics. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Chew. The Meril Snows traveled to Provo last week to see their new grandson. The name he has been given is Raymond Ray-mond Arvin Francom. The new sprinkling system is now in at the cemetary. We also have a caretaker that will mow and water, but each is responsible to plant their own lawn. The cost will be $25 a lot to water and mow. The money can be given to Blanche Wilkens or Meril Snow. A new family has moved into the ward a few weeks ago and already tragedy has struck as the life of the husband hus-band and father was taken in a car accident acci-dent near Silver Creek Junction. Ixst before he was really known, to us is Don Harrison, husband to Barbara and brother to Lila Beacham. Eugene and Wilbert Woody traveled to Provo this last weekend to visit their mother and sisters from Arizona and New Mexico and also a brother, Fred and family in Orem. We are having a ward rodeo again this year. It will be June 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Vernal fairgrounds. There will be concessions sold. We encourage everyone to come and join the fun. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Ainge of Range-ly, Range-ly, Colo., went on a trip to Calif. They took Mary Peterson and three grandchildren grand-children with them. They visited the cities of Las Vegas and Reno, Nev., and traveled onto Lake Tahoe then went into in-to Calif., and went to Knotts Berry Farm and Disneyland. They also went to see the Morgan Gardiners who live in Cheeno, Calif. They also spent some time at the beach. On their way home they came through the Grand Canyon and Hole in the Rock House in Moab. They then went through Grand Junction, Junc-tion, Colo., and then came home. Dale Snow is resting at home and would enjoy some company, cards or phone calls from friends and relatives. It is reported that Ray Goodrich is out of intensive care in a Salt Lake City hospital and is starting recovery therapy. Ray and Brad Jacobson were involved involv-ed in a bad car accident a few weeks ago. Brad is slowly recovering also. A correction on last week's article: it was Ali Stewart who was injured when she fell from the back of a truck instead of Amy. She is all right now and will be good as new in a few more weeks. The Uintah Basin Livestock show is on this week and we have several of our young people participating in it. We are proud to announce that our youngsters put top quality animals in the show and many times have come away with many high honors. This year will be no exception. We encourage everyone to go and see the show and notice the care and work that goes into the finished animals from both, the child and the families, as it could not be accomplished accomplish-ed without the team work of all. Babies are everywhere and we've just got one more this way. A boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Ken Edrington. The tiny sir weighed in at 7 lbs. and 2 oz. and was 20 inches long. He was born on June 8 at 3:43 p.m. He is welcomed home by a sister. His proud grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ron Edrington Edr-ington of Vernal and Mr. and Mrs. Fran Peterson of Jensen. Three great grandmothers, grand-mothers, Mrs. Reva Ruppe of Vernal, Mrs. Mary Peterson of Jensen and Mrs. Bernice Wilson of Roosevelt. Word has just come through that Ray Goodrich is home from the hospital after two weeks of recovery from a bad accident. It would be appreciated very much if friends and relatives would stop in to see him or send cards so that his days of convalescence will pass by more quickly. Elder Robert Bia, a former Jensen resident who is on a mission in the Ventura, Ven-tura, Calif., mission reports that so far the quakes that have hit different ports of Calif., have not, as yet, shook him up. Some fellows who are born in the summer come big enough to get in on all the fun with dad, at least that is what it seems as a new baby boy who bears the name of Martin Tom Cook who arrived ar-rived at 9 lbs. and 8 ozs. and stretched out to 22" long and came in the afternoon after-noon at about 3:30 p.m. on June 9. The proud parents are Mr. and Mrs. Martin Cook. An older sister is welcoming him home as well as two proud grandmothers, grand-mothers, Mrs. Lorraine Wall of Jensen and Mrs. Madge Campbell of Vernal. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Gross and three children took their horse Bruce Touch to the races in Craig, Colo., where he ran and took first place The Ninth Annual Jensen Ward Rodeo will be held June 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Uintah County Fairgrounds. Anyone who would like to sign up for participation will need to contact Richard Tolley at 789-4083. For barrel racing call Debbie Wilkens at 789-5380. Entries are open now and will close at 12 p.m. Wednesday on June 18. Events for the kids are also open. There will be sheep riding and a chicken chase. Anyone got extra chickens? Of course other special events will also be featured. The ticket prices will be adults $2, kids 11 thru 5 $1, and under 5 years old free. Set this night aside and be prepared to have an enjoyable evening's even-ing's entertainment. The mountain cabin of the Richard Peterson family received considerable damage during the winter months. |
