Show Farmers urged to sign-up for grain program The Wheat and Feed Grain Program this year urges all farmers to report their planted acreage to the ASCS Office Of-fice no later than Monday, June 16, 1980. There is no setaside this year, so all farmers can sign up for the program whether they have a Normal Crop Acreage (NCA) or not. According to ASCS officers, signup for the Wheat and Feed Grain Program can help in the event of a natural disaster, will offer deficiency payments if grain does not reach the target price, offer loans on wheat or barley and protect pro-tect your farm's history. The 1980 target prices and loan rates are: Target Price Loan High Low Rate Wheat $3.63 $3.08 $2.46 Barley 2.55 2.29 1.79 Corn 2.35 2.05 2.31 To be eligible for benefits under the high target price one must not exceed his NCA. If you overplant your NCA or you do not have an NCA and plant program pro-gram crops, you will be eligible for benefits based on the low target price, ASCS officials said. |
