Show Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo Royalty tryouts Royalty for the 30th annual Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo will be selected Saturday, June 14 at the Uintah County Fairgrounds. The tryouts will begin at 1 p.m. and the public is invited to attend. Any girl in the Uintah Basin who is 16 or older and has never been married is invited to try out. The girls are asked to wear white blouses, denim blue jeans, western hats and boots for the tryouts. Thev will be judged on horsemanship, personality and appearance. Trophies, cash and belt buckles will be awarded to the Queen, Miss Vernal and Miss Uintah All the girls who try out will be honored with a special dinner. Contestant Con-testant forms are available at the D Bar T Western Store in Vernal, rodeo headquarters. The queen's dance will be held that same night at the Rod and Gun Club beginning at 8 p.m. with live music. Admission will be $5.00 per couple and $3.00 for stag. No one under 18 will be admitted. The Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo, Vernal's only rodeo that is approved by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association, will be held July 3, 4 and 5 at the Uintah County Fairgrounds. Each performance will begin at 8 p.m. and there will be a dance Friday and Saturday nights following the rodeo. An all-horse parade will begin each night at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to participate in the parade, but deadline for entering is Monday, June 30. You may enter by calling 789-5294. The stock contractor is Swanney Kirby and T.V. Tommy Jones will be announcing the rodeo. Rodeo clowns Butch Lehmkuhler and Rick Rihrhart will be on hand to demonstrate their professionalism in bullfighting and expertise in entertaining. Admission for the rodeo is $4.00 for adults (12 and older), $2.00 for children 5 to 11 and free for children 4 and under. Family night will be Thursday night only. Family tickets are $15.00 and they must be purchased before gate time. |
