Show Susan Husch to compete in teenager pageant Miss Susan Husch, age 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Husch of Vernal has been selected to be a state finalist in the 1980 Miss United Teenager Pageant to be held at the University of Utah at 7:30 p.m. on June 28, 1980. Miss Husch is sponsored by Montgomery Mon-tgomery Ward, Dinosaur Motel, the Gateway Lounge and Pollard Trucking. She is a student of Uintah High School and her hobbies include reading, listening listen-ing to music, cooking and sewing. Contestants from all over the state will be competing for the title. All contestants con-testants are between the ages of 14 and i8 and must have at least a "B" average in school. They are requested to participate in the Volunteer Community Com-munity Service Program of the Miss United Teenager Pageant. Through this program many youngsters are becoming becom-ing involved in community activities by contributing at least eight hours of time to some worthwhile charity or civic work of their choice. The winner of the state finals of the Miss United Teenager Pageant will receive an all-expense paid trip to compete com-pete in the national finals, a three phase pageant in Hollywood, Calif., Waikiki Beach, Hawaii, and Washington, D.C.; where she will compete for $15,000 in cash scholarships, a new automobile for her reigning year, a trip to Europe, $5,000 appearance contract, $2,000 wardrobe war-drobe and other awards. Contestants will be judged on scholastic, civic achievements, beauty, poise and personality. No swimsuit competition is required. Each contestant will write and recite on stage a 100 word essay on the subject, "My Country". |
