Show 27th Miss UBIC Pageant Plans are now being made lor the 27th annual Miss UBIC Scholarship Pageant to be held Saturday, July 12, at 8 p.m. in the Union High School Auditorium. Mrs. Morlin (Gayle) Buchanan of Roosevelt will be chairman; Mrs. Shirl (Judvi Kawlings. judges, vice-chairman; vice-chairman; Mrs. Brad (Sherri) Norman, Nor-man, publicity; Mrs. Ralph (Jean) Ercanbrack, programs; Mrs. Dennis (Beverly) Mower and Mrs. Grant (Wendy) Earl, finance; and Mrs. Dennis (Diana) Jenkins, entries. Mrs. Buchanan and her committee encourage all merchants, businesses, and clubs in the basin area to sponsor a .contestant .in , the pageant.: After choosing a girl, sponsors should contact her as soon as possible so she can begin to prepare early. "Committee sponsors are a very good way to encourage and invite girls to participate," stated Mrs. Buchanan. Girls are encouraged to enter the pageant, whether sponsored or not. They may contact the following ladies in their areas for further information and entrance forms: Mrs. Dennis (Diana) Jenkins, Roosevelt-722-2450; Mrs. Allen (Jeanie) Brown, Roosevelt-722-3543; Mrs. Kyle (Chris) Dye, Neola-353-4274; Mrs. Kimball (Trudy) Bailey, Duchesne-738-2467; Mrs. Mike (Sandy) Rogers, Altamont-454-3852; Mrs. Grant (Gayle) Drollinger, Vernal 789-1384. To qualify, young women must be between the ages of 17 and 26 on the Labor Day holiday, must be a high school graduate and must never have been married. Entrant deadline is July 1, 1980. This is a valuable experience which offers opportunity for public attention and appearances. Most important, scholarships will be awarded to the queen and her two attendants to help obtain their college educations. All Basin communities are encouraged en-couraged to support this program. |
