Show Shooting Report Investigated Local authorities left Moab at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 18 after receiving a report re-port of an apparent shooting shoot-ing on the D&RG Railroad right-of-way at Westwa-ter. Westwa-ter. Calvin Busby, assisted by Winston Johnson, were welding on the railroad track and said they heard 2 shots, and Busby was struck above the left eye by a bullet which just penetrated the skin. He said he removed it and threw it away. He was taken to Grand Junction by ambulance, where the wound was treated and he was released. Sheriff W. H. Bowman and Jim Groves, Assistant Assist-ant Special Agent for the railroad company, investigated inves-tigated the area and found no sign of foul play. They found no bullet. Men tending sheep in a nearby field reported they heard nothing, according ac-cording to Sheriff Bowman. Bow-man. The 2 railroad employees em-ployees are Grand Junction Junc-tion residents, as is their supervisor, Rudy Lung, who was not on the immediate im-mediate scene at the time of the incident. Highway Patrol Sgt. Don Proctor and Trooper Ron Wood were dispatched dispatch-ed to the scene also to investigate the possible sniper report. |
