Show I The annual Jeep Safari, Sa-fari, sponsored by the Moab Chamber of Commerce Com-merce will again be held the Easter weekend, Mar. 29. Easter is on Sunday, March 30. This will be the ninth year for the popular event. Chairmen for the event this year are Harold Jacobs, Ja-cobs, longtime a leader and organizer for this event, and Connie Caou-ette, Caou-ette, involved in the program pro-gram over the past few years. It has been noted that many letters of inquiry have been received by the Moab Chamber of Commerce pertaining to the types of trails that will be available. The Safari Sa-fari will be held earlier this year because of the early date of Easter, and some trails may be un-passable un-passable at that time. Some problems have come to the attention of the chairmen of the event that may cause some changes in the events, but at the present time it is not known whether they can be settled. One of the controversies controver-sies is the use of the Lion's Park for the Scout BBQ and the annual breakfast sponsored by the Lions Club. Members of the State Board of Health have closed the park for sanitary conditions condi-tions and it is not known at this time if the park can be used for these two events. Directors of the Safari are contacting agencies involved in the matter to see if the problems prob-lems can be settled. Special recognition will be given to individuals and groups attending the Safari, such as the persons per-sons that have attended all previous Safaris and the persons traveling the farthest to participate. Jeep clubs with the most members participating and the club that has traveled tra-veled the farthest will also be honored. Committees are in the process of being formed to handle different aspects as-pects of the Safari and all persons interested in helping are asked to contact con-tact the Chamber office in Moab. The Moab Jeep Safari is one of the biggest events ot tneyearinMoaD and is recognized through out the west as - one of the best organized. |
