Cancer Defection Clinic Scheduled In Moab Soon; Public Urged fo Attend A new program to combat com-bat cancer of the head and neck among residents resi-dents of Grand County. Green River and LaSal will be initiated on Mar. 7, it was announced this week. The Head, Neck and Oral Cancer Clinic, a unique project sponsored sponsor-ed by the Intermountain Regional Medical Program Pro-gram of Salt Lake City, in cooperation with the Allen Memorial Hospital, Hos-pital, will provide opportunities op-portunities for local physicians and dentists to review latest techniques tech-niques in the early detection de-tection and treatment of cancer of the head, neck and oral cavity. More than 300 residents resi-dents of Grand County, Green River and LaSal will receive free cancer examinations at the special spe-cial cancer screening clinic to be held at the Allen Memorial Hospital Hos-pital on March 7. An intensive two-hour refresher course for physicians and dentists will be held on the evening ev-ening before the clinic, according to Dr. Robert Soderberg. Kay Havvkes, administrator ad-ministrator of the Allen Memorial Hospital, announced an-nounced that persons over 35 years of age are especially encouraged to take advantage of the screening clinic. He emphasized em-phasized that the examinations exam-inations are brief and painless and could conceivably con-ceivably save the lives of some people who may unknowingly be affected with the disease. Because of public response re-sponse to the project in other intermountain areas and in view of the limited amount of time, medical professionals, and facilities, residents who are interested in being examined should complete the coupon below be-low and return it to J. A committee will review re-view the coupons returned re-turned and residents selected se-lected will be contacted by telephone as to the time they should attend the clinic on March 7. Any resident who does not attend the clinic and feels they have any signs or symptoms of the disease dis-ease should consult with their personal physician as soon as possible for an examination. The Head, Neck and Oral Cancer project of seminars and screening clinics will be conducted in 36 communities within with-in the Intermountain Region Re-gion over the next three years. The program is a single but important aspect of the IRMP's many educational and service projects designed de-signed to enhance the availability of high quality qual-ity medical care all through the Intermountain Intermoun-tain West.
