Show Dear Mr. Taylor: I was sorry to hear the news that the County Commissioners tended to agree with the local camping park operators about closing the Lions Park because it is hur ting t-ing their business. From what I read and hear from the news media all camping will be prohibited in the National Na-tional Parks in the very near future and the local camping park operators will be enlarging their present facil it ies to take in more money. I feel sorry for them but somehow can't quite reach them!. There have been many limes in the last 15 years when we lived at Kirk's Basin and Gateway and were on a limit eel budget bud-get with 8 kids (no budget bud-get is a better phrase) that we have enjoyed a "vara I ion" at the Lions Park area. And how many elder ly people a re there that like to travel but are really on a limited lim-ited budget when llie.v have retired'.' I have written to the County Commissioners to let thern know I for one am against the closing clos-ing of (lie Park, I only hope others will do the sa rne. Sincerely, Mr s. Uinnelle H infield Dear Sam: Greed wins again in Moab. This time it's in the form of the campground camp-ground owners who convinced con-vinced the County Com -mission that free overnight over-night parking at the Lions Club Park offer's unfair competition will) their establishments. It doesn't matter to them that: (1) The Lions Club Park was in existence first. (2) Many visitor's to Moab don't want or need the expensive facilities fac-ilities that the commercial commer-cial campgrounds offer. Ci) Two of the campgrounds camp-grounds haven't opened yet so they don't know how much effect the Lions Club Park will have on their' businesses. busines-ses. (1) Because of the free overnight parking, many visitors will spend more time (and money) in the Moab a r ea . I !sing the campground owners fine logic, why don't we let the City Water Department close the Park's spring anil have the restaurant owners slop the use of the Park's charcoal grilles and picnic tables'.' ta-bles'.' After all, aren't these also unfair compel com-pel i I ion? .Sincerely yours, ( hven Severance |
