Show Moab Hospital Administrator Named to Post Reed L. Clegg, Director of VA Hospital, Salt Lake City, was elected President of the Utah State Hospital Association Associa-tion at their annual Convention just concluded in St. George. Other officers for the coming com-ing year are: David B. Wirthlin, Administrator, LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City, President-Elect; Wayne B. McTague, Administrator, American Fork Hospital, Treasurer; J. Kay Hawks, Administrator, Allen Memorial Memor-ial Hospital, Moab, Member of the Board of Trustees; and "-Robert H" Muilenburg, Administrator, Ad-ministrator, University Hospital, Hospi-tal, Salt Lake City, Member of the Board of Trustees. Utah hospitals face many challenges of inflationary costs, of Federal regulations, malpractice abuse, and other problems of grave concern to the hospital administrators and the allied hospital associations. associ-ations. These matters impinge directly upon the people of the state of Utah who pay for such i services. The Association is pledged to do its utmost to control costs and to manage their member health institutions efficiently. Utah hospitals have a proud record of efficient and economical econom-ical management, yet maintaining main-taining high quality patient care. The length of stay of hospitalized patients in Utah is among the lowest of any state in the Union and costs are in the lower brackets. The health of the people of the state of Utah ranks high in the nation. To this good record the physicians and the health practioners in Utah's hospitals contribute significantly. Wives of administrators and other participants joined in the general sessions of the Convention Con-vention and enjoyed separate social activities. |
