Show Hanksville News Ray Bennett was rushed to the Moab Hospital Monday after he suffered severe abdominal pains. He was taken there by his brother-in-law, Ted Ek-ker. Ek-ker. Ray will remain at the hospital for several days for tests and observation. Ray makes his home in Denver. The Hanksville Boy Scout Troop 588 and Cub Scouts attended the Scout-O-Rama in Bicknell Saturday. Satur-day. They presented a display of area wildlife and plant life for then-booth then-booth exhibits. Taking part were scouts, John Johnson, Justin Ekker, Todd and Douglas Stewart, Ste-wart, Lance and Bill Wells, and Craig Campbell. Camp-bell. Cubs attending were Derek Ekker, Jo Bob Dawson, Jake Bullard, Rusty Wells, Dennie Lierd and Darl Gailey. They were accompanied by Scoutmaster Jon Mark Jarvis and Tom Campbell. Wynona Mulford attended at-tended a scholarship presentation pre-sentation in Logan last week where her daughter, Carol Jean Mulford Al-brecht Al-brecht was presented an award in recognition for her four years of college with a 4.0 average all four years. Reta and Miles Jeppson visited her daughter, Mrs. Connie Rasmussen, and family from their Salt Lake home. Also visiting the Rasmussens was Connie's twin sister, Carol Snow, husband and family. They enjoyed a trip to Lake Powell. The Jeppsons also visited Reta's father, Cass Mulford. and family in Torrey. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Hallows (he's principal of Wayne Middle School) were in Provo this week to be with their daughters, Denise and Susan following follow-ing an auto-train collision. Jerry Brian, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Brian, Springville, who's employed em-ployed here with Atlas Resources coal operation west of Hanksville, and his fiancee, Linda Argile, visited friends this weekend. week-end. Miss Argile is a student at SUSC at Cedar City. Mrs. Marjorie Erickson has been visiting her son Kay and June Erickson and family this week from her home in Loa. Mrs. Eunice Gass is visiting her daughter, Eula Allen from her Salt Lake home. Mrs. Gass accompanied Fern and Ted Morrison down for the weekend. Cattlemen in this area are reporting that several new calves have been killed by coyotes shortly after birth and many were attacked and received bites and torn flesh in the rectal area. They are being cared for and will survive, hopefully, minus their tails. Lawrence Ekker Ek-ker lost a calf in his field here in town to coyotes and Horace Ekker and Ralph Pace have reported losses on the range. The Garfield County road maintenance crew witnessed witnes-sed a coyote chasing a calf along a fence line in the Henry Mountains and were unable to assist the animal in any way. |
