HUD grant I I A public hearing will be he d I Tuesday, May 16 by the Moab City cU to gain public input on esSlishing priorit.es for use of Inev to be apphed for under a "Soni HUD's Urban Develop-I Develop-I nt Action Grant Program. I request is to be made to HUD ! i-the City of Moab for a grant of sfi 5 million to be used for civic Movement. Work began on the application on April 14. I Some of the proposed projects to I ke discussed include the expansion I f water and sewer lines and the ! building of a new one million gallon ffatr tank. The installation of storm drains downtown near Mill ' Creek will also be discussed as well I as the fbalization of flood control in I Stewart Canyon. Further flood controls on the east side of town have also been proposed. In conjunction with a Grand County road-building project, the w city will request funding for a sidewalk to be built in front of the Southeast Elementary School. A I proposed extension of Arroyo Road ' is also to be discussed. J Moab Mayor Harold Jacobs and ! City Administrator Dave Bretzke expressed doubt that funding would be obtained for a convention j center, an indoor-outdoor pool, or I improvements for the golf course. I The grant application will be based on the total amount of money being invested in the Moab area, i This figure is estimated to be $17 j million. j Seth Butterfield, a grantsman from Ogden will be present at the hearing to answer questions. The meeting will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. in the City Council Chambers in the Moab City building. Interested citizens are invited to attend and make their views known. |
