Show Magazine writer workshop scheduled i Editors from Reader's Digest, Sports Illustrated, Parade and Mademoiselle magazines will be featured featur-ed at the annual Magazine Article Writer's Workshop Work-shop at Utah State University Univer-sity June 16-17. This year's workshop, being cosponsored by Reader's Digest, will also include guest editors from Farm Journal, Field and Stream, World Tennis, Skiing and American Way magazines, according to Dick Harris, workshop director and member of the USU journalism faculty. The two-day workshop is designed to meet the John M. Allen needs of both the novice and the experienced writer writ-er according to Harris. "The beginning writer will receive help on marketable ideas, tips on the mechanics of writing and suggestions on dealing deal-ing with editors," Harris said. "The experienced writer is expected to learn how to improve writing techniques, get acquainted acquaint-ed with other professionals profession-als and move up to higher-paying markets. The panel of writers will be available throughout the two days for informal discussions." Most of the major areas of magazine writing will be covered in the workshop work-shop sessions. They include in-clude women's affairs, outdoors, sports, science, agriculture, and the West, regional and in-flight magazines. A session of magazine photography will also be offered. How to write for the big, general interest magazines will be discussed discus-sed by editors John M. Allen of Reader's Digest will award six prizes for writers competing in published pub-lished and unpublished I categories. More than 100 writers have already pre-register-ed for the workshop which will be held in the Eccles Building on the USU campus. Registration will be limited to 300 writers, Harris said.
