Show Peace officer graduation includes Moab trooper John H. Mealy, of the Utah State Highway lacrol Moab office, will be certified as a peace officer in graduation ceremonies Friday in Walker Hall at Westminster College on 17th South and 13th East in Salt Lake City. Mealy is one of 27 officers to complete an eight week law enforcement enforce-ment academy curriculum, curricu-lum, which includes training train-ing an all phases of criminal investigation, juvenile ju-venile matters, drugs and narcotics, traffic accident investigation techniques, advanced first aid, firearms fire-arms training as well as techniques in the handling of bombs and explosives, and an efficiency driving course consisting of prac tical driving experience, pursuit driving, and the stopping and approaching of vehicles. Col. Robert J. Reid, Utah Highway Patrol, will ' address the graduates. Mr. Dean O. Anderson will outline and administer adminis-ter the code of ethics. The Utah State Law Enforcement Academy was created in 1967 by an act of the Utah State Legislature. The objective of the legislation is to better promote and ensure the safety and welfare of the state in the officers' respective communities, and to provide for more efficiency and professional profession-al law enforcement by establishing minimum standards and training for peace officers throughout the state. This is the 70th class to graduate from the Academy. Acad-emy. Joe M. Borich, Director of Utah State Peace : Officer Standards and Training stated that a representative from the Utah Peace Officers' Association As-sociation will be present ot award a special plaque to 1 the most outstanding officer offi-cer in the graduating 1 class. |
