Show Jack Chase Slated for Assembly Jack Chase, world known disabled polio victim, who has since become an accomplished accomplish-ed basketball player, will present pre-sent an assembly at Grand county high school next Tuesday, Tues-day, March 26, at 1:30 p.m., it was announced this week. The public is invited to attend at-tend this assembly, which is free. At the age of 20, Chase was stricken with polio, leaving his legs paralyzed. Since then he has attended the Univer sity of Illinois and after graduating, grad-uating, enrolled at L.I.F.E. Bible College in Los Angeles. Upon completion of his studies stu-dies there he entered the ministry. While in California, he played play-ed basketball with the "Flying "Fly-ing Wheels," a team composed compos-ed of disabled veterans, and was privileged to meet President Presi-dent and Mrs. Eisenhower while playing basketball in Washington, D. C. He also has appeared on several national coast to coast radio and TV programs, including "Strike It Rich." and "You Asked for It." In the summer of 1962, Mr. Chase was one of eighteen wheelchair personnel to go on an extensive tour of South Africa, Southern Rhodesia, and Europe. The purpose of the tour, initiated by South Africans and Southern Rho-desians, Rho-desians, was to demonstrate to those countries the possibilities possi-bilities of activities and employment em-ployment for the physically handicapped. During the tour, Mr. Chase won first place in the "Slalom" obstacle course race and played on the United Unit-ed States Wheelchair Basketball Basket-ball Team which won the World Championship Para-Olympia Para-Olympia games in London, England. |
