Show Potash Rail Cars Pile Up In Friday Night Wreck The last four heavily loaded load-ed cars of a thirty-five car D&RG freight train derailed on the Potash Spur Friday night, spilling potash over a wide area and tearing up some 300 feet of track. The wreck occurred at 10:15 p.m. Friday, at the Daltoq Wells siding, some 14 miles north of Moab, according to Sheriff Haskell Bowman, who investigated. Crew members told the sheriff that they thought the train hit a soft spot in the roadbed, causing a car loaded with potash to jump the tracks. Three other potash cars and the caboose, following it, piled up into the first car. Engineer on the train was Dale Branister. Other crew members were Dick Cloud, rear brakeman; Floyd Royal, conductor and Freddy Nelson, Nel-son, helper. Mr. Cloud and Mr. Royal were both riding in the caboose when the wreck occurred, but it did not turn over as did the loaded load-ed potash cars. None were injured, in-jured, according to Sheriff Bowman. All crew members were from Grand Junction. Cleanup crews were on hand shortly after daybreak Saturday, and they expected heavy equipment during the morning to clear up the wreckage and begin clearing the track. There was no available av-ailable estimate on damages. . ... v r , - , .. . n -l - . ) " : . y.f .- ' , - - v ' ; V ' ' ? . , - J p. . 1 7 v ; ' . y' "&T$?-f ' . 7 " - - . - " i 1 - -" ' s .- .. . ; ' - .
