Show COBB AWARDED RECORD SWEEP All of John Cobb's speed records rec-ords on the Bonneville salt flats last summer have been confirmed con-firmed as world marks by the Association International of Automobile Au-tomobile Clubs, giving the husky Briton a clean sweep of marks from the kilometer to 10 miles. In confirming the records, the International group accepted the recommendation of the American Ameri-can Automobile association that the Briton get credit for the five-mile record, although one of the timing traps failed. After all, it was part of a recognized mark for a longer distance (10 miles). His records follow: Kilometer, 369.7 m. p. h.; mile. 368.9 m. p. h.; five kilometers, 326.T m. p. m.; five miles. 302.2 rr,- p. m.; 10 kilometers, kilo-meters, 283 m. p. h., and 10 miles, 270.4 m. p. h. Announcement was made here Friday by Gus P. Backman, secretary sec-retary of the chamber of commerce, com-merce, upon notification by T. E. Allen, secretary of the contest board for the American Automobile Automo-bile association. |
