Show Chemistry Depicted As Ally of Farmers A brighter future for the farmer through chemical research re-search was predicted Friday by L. F. Livingston, manager of the agricultural extension division of the E. I. du Pont de Nemours Ne-mours company, at a special luncheon meeting of the chamber of commerce at the Hotel Utah. "The farmer, chemist, agrlcul-' tural engineer and manufacturer now are in a new partnership," Mr. Livingston said, "whereby agricultural agricul-tural products will be used in industry, in-dustry, through research and experimentation. ex-perimentation. "The farmer's' future lies' not In expansion of the present crops, but In expansion of crops which can be used in Industry." He predicted a literal "house ot straw," as well as clothing made from grass and paper fabricated from corn stalks. None of these things Is practical at present, he added, but research Is making them almost a certainty for the future. t.v t ' ' ." ,7 . CHEMIST SEES NEW USES FOR FARM PRODUCTS L. F.
