S. church conference con-ference only a week away and the semiannual conference of the National Woman's Relief society ready to open next Wednesday, church leaders Friday had completed com-pleted plans for all the sessions. Spiritual workers who also lend a hand to those in need will begin to arrive here early next week to attend the Relief society meetings meet-ings Wdnesday and Thursday. Officers Of-ficers of the widespread society will hold the spotlight the opening day when they will receive their regular Instructions from Mrs. Louise Y. Robison, society president. presi-dent. The program for the society, a two-day conference, has not yet 1 been released, but Wednesday will feature a special aesalon for officers of-ficers of the organisation exclusively. exclusive-ly. The afternoon probably will be devoted to department meetings. Belief Speakers General sessions will be held Thursday In the tabernacle. These meetings are expected to be attended at-tended by as least 5000 persona. Speakers at the society conference confer-ence will be David O. McKay, second sec-ond counselor In the first presidency; presi-dency; Mrs. Vincent Hilles Ober, president of the National Federation Federa-tion of Music clubs; W. E. Ryberg, member of the church general welfare committee, and Mrs. Robl-son's Robl-son's counselors, Mrs. Amy Brown Lyman and Mrs. Kate M. Barker. A gigantic Relief society Singing Mothers' chorus, under direction of Mrs. Charlotte O. Sackett, will furnish the music at society meet- . ings and some general conference confer-ence sessions. Heber J. Grant, president of the church, who Is at present In the Pacific northwest, will return Monday to make final arrangements arrange-ments for opening the general conference Friday at 10 a. m. In the tabernacle. The conference will continue Saturday and Sunday. Sun-day. Sessions will be held each day at 10 a. m. and 3 p.m. When President Grant calls the Initial session to order It Is expected ex-pected the building will be filled ' to capacity. The largest crowds will attend the Sunday sessions. A little more time Is expected to be allowed general authorities when they give their counsel to4he- members in view of the fact mission mis-sion presidents will not come to this conference on account of the turn of events In Europe. , War la Faeter The European war, which haa forced all missionaries home, haa made It necessary for the first presidency to request mission presidents to stay In their respective respec-tive fields to welcome young men and women who are being reassigned reas-signed to missions In the United States. Numerous auxiliary meetings will be held during the three-day conference. Missionary reunions also will hold the spotlight. All general authorities will ate tend the conference, with the exception ex-ception of Joseph Fielding Smith of the council of twelve apostles, who has been in charge of the movement of missionaries from European countries, ; and Levi Edgar Young, member of the first council of seventy, who Is now president of the New England mission. |
