Show I Old-Time Air Marks Fete of Modern Town fV vs QUEEN AND HER AIDS DON POKE BONNETS FOR BINGHAM CELEBRATION Helen Morris, left; Katherine Kellar (Miss Galena) and Agnes McDonald i BINGHAM OPENS 'GALENJt DAYS' Dynamite Blast Heralds , Two-Day Fete BINGHAM A crowd of from 6000 to 8000 persons lined the streets of this long canyon mining town Friday to see the picturesque parade which featured the opening open-ing day of Bingham's Galena days celebration. Dale Johnston, general chairman, chair-man, and Wlllard Nlckols, entertainment enter-tainment chairman, arranged the parade, which featured mining floats and a pageantry of progress prog-ress depicting Bingham from the time of its first settlers to its present pres-ent up-to-date status as a modern city. A blast of 21 boxes of dynsmlte st 6:30 a. m. Friday heralded the beginning of the fete. Open house was held at the new Copperton high school, followed by a doubleheader football ' game between Jordan and Richfield high schools and the Bingham and Tooele teams. A boxing card was set for 8 p. m. at the school gymnasium, gym-nasium, followed by a dance at Civic Center, 'i Dedication of the new Copperton I high school and $100,000 stadium was to take place at 7 p. m. with C N. Jensen, superintendent of the Jordan school district, presiding. pre-siding. Second day activities will fea-. fea-. ture a miniature parade with c v-eral v-eral hundred school children participating. par-ticipating. R. B. Bell, Central school principal, will be in charge. The new Bingham-Copper'd lunnerwill be dedicated at 11 a. m. More than 100 old-timers, residents resi-dents of Bingham prior to 1900. will be guests at a luncheon In the Bogan building at noon, with B. A. Hocking In charge. Children's contests con-tests will be held from 11 a. m. to 2:30 p. m., featured by a "soap box derby." Other events set for Saturday Include rock drilling and mucking contests at 4 p. m a beard Judging contest at 5 p. m., an old-timers' program at 7 p. m and dances at the Civic Center, Copperfleld school and Society hall at 9 p. m.
