Kramer, conductor of the train, said hs first knew of ths accident ac-cident when ths train's airline broke. Ths train then halted immediately. im-mediately. . Mr. Nevs formerly was sales manager for ths Strestor-Smith Motor Mo-tor company in Salt Lake City and since last July had been sales manager man-ager for the Wssatch Chevrolet company at Provo. Mr. Brown was an employe of the same company. Mr. Brown was born at Prove, March 26. 1916, a son of Roy D. and Margaret Pearl Park Brown-He Brown-He was graduated from Provo high school and for a time was partner and manager at ths B and C No elty store. Joined Company He Joined the sales force of ths motor company December L Surviving are his parents, four brothers, Welby, Harold D, and Weston D. Brown of Provo and Arvel D. Brown of Portland. Ore, and s sister, Mrs, Edna Warner. Funeral services will be conducted at J p. m. Thursday in the Prove U D. S. Third ward chapel by Bishop Alfred Eves. Interment will be In Provo City burial park. Mrs. Giddins, wife of John W. Giddina, waa struck at Broadway and Seventh East street, at (:30 p. m. by a car driven by Fred Augs-burger, Augs-burger, 42, of 638 H street. Mr. Augsburger.. whe took Mrs. Giddins to the emergency hospital, said be did not see her until sha was immediately in front ef hie car. ' Mrs. Giddins suffered a fractured skull, fractured right arm and multiple cuts and bruises. Canada. She and Mr. Giddins were married 50 years ago in Michigan and came to S.ilt Lake City 20 years sgo. Mr. Giddins is a high priest of the L. D. S. church arid custodian in the Sixth-Seventh ward. Surviving are Mr. Giddins and four children. William Charles Giddins Gid-dins of San Pedro, Cal.; Mrs. Agnes Jane Seal of Salt Lake City: John Wllford Giddins of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Rose Ann Hill of Eugene, Ore,, snd three grandchildren. Mrs. Irene Shaffer, (to. widow of Samuel Shaffer of Nibley, Cache county, was in "critical" condition at Cache Valley general hospital. Mrs. Shsffer suffered two fractures frac-tures of the right leg and a fracture frac-ture of the left leg. She was struck on ths Hyrum-Logsn Hyrum-Logsn highway by n automobile operated by Winston Gunnell, 27, of Wellsvills, who took her to the 'hospital. " Mr. Gunnell told officers he was traveling north and that Mrs. Shaffer Shaf-fer was wslking in the sams direction direc-tion on the east side of ths road. As she approached her home, on ths west side, she started across ths highwsy and stepped in front of the car, he said. In Fair Condition William Shelmerdine. 64. of 1298 Iota avenue, was in "fair" condition condi-tion at Salt Lake general hospital, with a possible hip fracture and cuts and bruises. Mr. Shelmerdine was struck at Fourth South and Second West streets by an automobile driven by Clifton Larkins. 24. of Kaysville, who was booked on charges of not yielding right-of-way. Mrs. Fay Herrman, 43, of J 409 South West Temple street, suffered suf-fered cuts when a oar she waa driving driv-ing was struck by ane operated by Earl A. Olsen, 24, of 244 Third North strset. The accident occurred as Mrs. Herrman was turning Into the driveway at her home. Olsen was booked on reckless driving charges. Mrs Katia Durkin. S3, of 644 Sixth South street, suffered a possible concussion, con-cussion, and her husband, J. L. Durkin, 54. cuts on the head, when 1 their automobile collided with one driven by John L. Allen, 29, of 711 Ninth East street. Struck by Car Albert Hansen, 12, of 746 Denver street, suffered cuts and bruises when he ran into ths street at Fifth East and Seventh South streets and was struck by an automobile auto-mobile driven by Mrs. W. V. Nuttall, 29. of 610 Browning avenue. Mrs. Vina Wright, 36. of 1916 Sixteenth East street, was reported report-ed in "good" condition at Holy Cross hospital, after being injured in a collision col-lision of two automobiles. Mary Jean Wright, 9. and Wayne Wright. 12, were reported slightly hurt. A car driven by her husband, Jesse Wright. 39, collided with one operated operat-ed by Leo E. Dillon, 26, of 134 McClelland Mc-Clelland street, who was booked on charges of running a red light. Car Lestves Road Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ivie of Bingham, Bing-ham, newly weds, suffered minor injuries in-juries when their car slid off the highway a mile north of Bingham. Bing-ham. Married Saturday in Salt Lake City, the couple were returning to Bingham from Price when an approaching ap-proaching car began to skid on the slippery road. While Mr. Ivie was trying to dodge it, his own machine ' skidded and went over a 10-foot embankment, em-bankment, overturning. |
