Show WHY MEN SEE SNAKES. Chicago Tribune. A French scientist accounts for the fact that snakes are seen by those suffering suf-fering from delirium tremens as follows: fol-lows: ' The minute blood vessels in the retina of their eyes are congested. In this condition they appear black and are projected Into the field of vision, where their movements resemble the squirming of serpents.' But the sufferer suffer-er from delirium tremens may see anything any-thing from lice to elephants, and a case is recorded in which the sufferer mar-tialed mar-tialed regiments of balloons. Could these come from motes in a Frenchman's French-man's eye? |
