Show OLD TUNNEL FOUND IN THE ATLAS RUINS Evidences of an underground tunnel, the remnant of the city's original crude and primitive sewer system, have been found by workmen who were engaged in clearing the debris from the Atlas block site. The tunnel is the only trace remaining remain-ing of a huge cesspool which in early days was located In the center of the block. The tunnel was a sewer to carry sewage to-a large pond located between West Temple and First West streets, due west of the Atlas block site. The tunnel was dug to a depth of forty for-ty feet and was four feet In diameter. Twenty years ago a part of the tunnel caved in and carried with it a wall of the electric light plant. The tunnel waa even at that time almost forgotten. SSSBSBSSBBBBSBSSBSSSBSSSSSSSSSSSWSSSSMBSSBBSSSBSW |
