Show SCOTT QUITS SALTLAKE: Hardware Man, After Res-; Res-; idencc of 30 Years, Moves to 'Frisco. George M. Scott, president of the George M. Scott-Strevell . Hardware company, who for more than thirty years has been closely identified with the business interests'of Salt Lake, has decided to retire from business, and leaves this afternoon for San Francisco, his former home. Mr. Scott has disposed of nearly all of his stock in the hardware company to J. H. Paterson of Chicago. The formal reorganization of the house will take place at a special directors' meeting on February 2Sth, when the name of the concern ,will be changed to the Strevell-Paterson Strevell-Paterson Hardware company. Mr. Scott will still remain a director In the company, and says that he expects ex-pects to visit Salt Lake several times a year to keep in touch with his friends" and associates of years. While always prominent in business circles, Mr. Scott has also received some of the honors of public life, having been the first non-Morman Mayor of Salt Lake, an office to which he was elected in 1889. |
