Show himself guilty cf a heinous crime for it to be ether wise. Look at France I Its population taa fallen below. what it was ten years ago, and it U traced by its own ralers to this very cause-tf violation of the laws of marriage.: Such a condition exists entirely en-tirely in the infidel portions of France. The wide-?pread wide-?pread evil is the result of Voltaire's teachings. .It is that country's curse and the people's shame. A remedy for this lies in the practical recognition of the sacred state of marriage by men and women. When they care more for cats and- dogs than for children it is cot surprising that djvoroe is frequent and popular among the people of that class." No Catholic habitually violating violat-ing the sacred ends of marriage would be allowed to approach the sacraments of the church. This is the law of the church the moral law governing the v whole question of marriage. Any one persistently violating this law would be living in a habitual state of mortal sin. Such is the position, of the church on the question, as it has ever been held and ever must be held, no matter what theories of Malthas- or others may be advanced. As far as the question of economics goes, the theory opposed to large families is founded on falsehood, for even the poor find their greatest happjness in their numerous ; progeny- I hare spent many years among the poor and those who work, and in my experience.it has been- the rarest thing to see a dark look greeting a new birth. .
