Show SPORTS... 15 Years Ago Springville baseball team got away to a good start by winning their first game of the season from Thistle 6-3. V. Jensen sent the old apple for a long ride while he circled the bases his first trip to bat Sunday and Mower also hit a couple of nice ones. Provo high school Bulldogs, presenting pre-senting a well-balanced track & field team, won first place at an invitational meet held in Spanish Fork. Springville placed last. Bill .Wilkins' heave of the Shot 47 feet 10 inches and Dick Boor-man's Boor-man's fast time of 23 flat in the 220 were oustanding marks in the meet for Springville. M Men have begun their baseball base-ball season for the summer and a full schedule .has been drawn up. . - - " Don Ferguson has been appointed appoint-ed temporary 1 manager of the Springville baseball club and daily workouts are being held at the ball park. ..-" Bill Wilkin and Dick Boorman each captured a First and a Second Sec-ond place in the Invitational meet in Payson last Friday. Wilkin, with a heave of 47 feet 4 inches, won the shot but was nosed out in the discus. Boorman won the 220 yard dash in the good time of 24 flat and was inches short of a first in the 100. Payson won the meet. . A softball league has been formed for Springville. Eight teams will open play May 1. The Springville high school track team will journey to Spanish Fork to compete in an invitational track and field meet, this week. The inter-class track and field meet of the S.H.S. last Wed. was taken by the Senior class. The Seniors scored 69 points; the Juniors Jun-iors 41 'and the Sophs 16. Dick. Boorman, Junior, , was high point man. |
