Show ships aggregating- 65,000 in the, 1949 model car competition. Springville Youth Re-enrolls In Model Car Contest George Anderson, of 70 East 4th South St., Springville, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Lowry Anderson, has re-enrolled in the annual j competition of the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild and has started start-ed work on the design and construction con-struction of a model automobile in hopes of winning a cash award and university scholarship, according to word received at Guild headquarters, head-quarters, Detroit, Michigan. The Springville youth, who must ; complete his model by July 1, will ; enter it first in Utah state com- I petition, which has 14 awards equ- j ally divided between the Junior (age 12 througn 15) and Senior j (16 through 19) age groups. First j place in the state brings a $150 i award. State winners then compete regionally, and the 40 regional winners receive an expense-free trip to the Guild convention next ; August at Detroit where the eight i national scholarship winners will be named. The scholarships range I from $1,000 to $4,000. The Craftsman's Guild, an org- anization for the development of craftsmanship and creative abil- j ity among youth, is offering cash awards and university scholar-! |
