Show An Open Letter ... An open letter to citizens who voted no on creek fencing: "Of what value is a small child's life compared to a few dollars taxation tax-ation ? "The majority of the votes say none! "Majority of file votes! It certainly cer-tainly was not . the majority of all who tried to vote. How many mothers were denied that privilege because of a technicality of the law? "Were you, who voted against it, too cowardly to admit you cared nothing for a child's life, when confronted by the petitions asking for your signature? Did you want a secret ballot so you could show your true colors and yet say in public "Oh yes, I was for it. I signed the petition?" "What answer do you give your children or grandchildren when they ask how you voted? Can you answer them truthfully? Can you look into a childs trusting eyes and say "I've done my best to keep you from harm?" "When the inevitable occurs, and the small lifeless body ,of the next victim of Hobble Creek, is placed in its mothers arms, will your conscience be clear?" Geraldine N. Atkinson, "A mother who was refused a vote on the creek fence.." |
