Payson, while fielding one of its smallest teams in years, makes up for it in speed and ruggedness. unless the Devils click, they will find themselves holding down the cellar position. Last Friday night, the Devils looked like a veteran outfit for two quarters against the Spanish Fork five. The Devils completely dominated play during the. first half and, led by Martin Reed, who broke in for some nice set-ups to keep the Devils going, went into the dressing rooms with a 16-13 lead. Joe Nelson came back strong in the second half and led his club to a 38-26 win over a completely reversed Red Devil five. Juab handed Payson its third setback by the same count as Springville and Spanish's score at Nephi. Coach Art Gilbert's Sophomore club dropped their game 28-24 in an exciting and well-played preliminary pre-liminary tilt last Friday with the Spanish second team.
