Show 'LOCAL PAPER IS CITED FOR WAR BOND EFFORT Springville Herald: The Sixth War Loan was the most successful sales promotional program ever known in the history his-tory of the world, War Bond sales totaled $21,621,000,000. This statement was sent recently recent-ly to the Springville Herald, together to-gether with a commendation from the Treasury Department, as follows fol-lows : "Your outstanding support, with sponsored War Bond advertising was a major factor in the success of the drive. The Treasury is by the weeklies of Utah in carry- ing the Sixth War Loan story to every corner of the every county in the state. "Without this generous support the unparalleled success of the drive would not have been possi- ble" Utah war bond buyers exceeded the hard-to-get Series "E' quota by nearly two million dollars and topped the $56 million mark in total sales, according to Sixth War Loan final tabulations of the Federal Reserve Bank. Utahns met their anti-inflationary "E" quota ($12,000,000) with a $13,820,366 total. The 115 per cent accomplishment was above the national average of 114. Every county oversubscribed its total quota. Five reached more than 200 rjercent. Every county topped its corporation quota. All but San Juan, Utah and Wasatch met "E" quota. All but Beaver, Grand, Rich and Wayne met other oth-er than E quota. most sincerely appreciative of the job you are doing. The commendat i o n further states : "These War Bond drives continue contin-ue to demonstrate again and again the powerful force of newspaper advertising. The greater the sale of War Bonds in your community, the greater will be your financial backlog to help absorb any postwar post-war reverses for your people and your local merchants. "Just as the fighting must go on until final victory, so must the war financing program continue. A maximum amount of sponsored War Bond advertising, on a consistent con-sistent week after week basis, is most essential to this vital program. pro-gram.
