Show Armed Forces Thomas Jons Go8 Into Tho Marines Thomas Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas W. Jones, left December De-cember 27 for the Marines. He is stationed at San Diego, Calif. JeSHO Whiting Is Homo On Furlough Jes.se Whiting, who has been stationed at Camp Gordon, Johnston, John-ston, Fla., is spending a few days at home with his wife and family fam-ily and other relatives. ,Ia:k Child i:lt I'romotlon Lawrenee John "Jack" Child of this city was recently promoted to the grade of corporal at the 4th Air Force B-24 Liberator bomber Several Service Men Homo On Visits Among Springville service men who have spent the past few days at home visiting relatives and friends are: Dean Hafen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Hafen, Dar-rell Dar-rell Hatch, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hatch; Floyd Anderson, son of Mrs. Ellen Anderson; Leonard Leon-ard Zobeil, whose wife is the former for-mer Vera Wheeler; Dale Barker and Bert Miner. Some of the men were here on delay enroute, and I expect to go overseas soon. Martin Perrero Visits Relatives Pfc. Martin Perrero arrived last week to spend twenty-two days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Perrero of Mapleton and other relatives and friends. Stationed Sta-tioned at New Orleans, La., he saw the Sugar Bowl game, which training field, Walla Walla, Wash. Corporal Child, son of Mr. and Mrs. Will Child, is assigned to a B-24 bomber as a gunner at Walla Walla Army Air Field. Wrlt.w Letter Of Appreciation Camp Maxey, Texas Dear Sirs: Just a line to let you know I nm getting the Herald now, and wan't to thank everybody who are J making it so all the boys in the Armed Forces are getting the paper. pa-per. I know If the boys keep getting the paper they will get along all right, because it sure helps me out a lot. I thought I was in a good branch of the Army, but I guess you can't beat the Infantry. I have finished my training here in Camp Maxey, and I am ready to go to Fort Meade any day now. Again I say thanks a lot for the paper. Bob Marsh. Letter Comes From Monto E. Arvil Dallin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Dallin and Blaine Hatfield, Hat-field, son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hatfield, spent the past few days with relatives and friends here enroute to Ford Ord, Calif. Pvt. Guy Bird Goes To Florida Pvt. Guy Bird, who was recently recent-ly transferred from Texas to a gunnery school in Florida, recently recent-ly visited Bernice Chader when he had a two-hour stop at Shreves-port, Shreves-port, La. Bernice is with the WACs at Shrevesport and the two were in the same class at high school. J. Wayne Haws, S IO On Leave Home J. WayneHaws, S 1C, son of Mrs. Pauline Haws, is spending a twenty-two day leave with his mother and other relatives and friends in Springville. He has served fifteen months in the South Pacific. a long time to get here because I guess letters get first priority and there is a lot of mail comes over. But it's really a comfort to come off a mission and be able to pick up a good old home paper. Cpl. Fred L. Graber Homo On Furlough Cpl. Fred L. Graber has spent the past thirty days at home on furlough after serving fifteen months in Panama. He visited his wife, the former Lucille Thorpe, at the home of Mrs. Etta Thorpe, and the couple also spent two weeks with his parents and other relatives at Deer River, Minn. Pvt. Blair Sargent Home On Furlough Pvt. Blair Sargent, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merle Sargent, will leave today for Fort Ord, Calif., after spending a few days here enroute to his new station.
