The letter was from a soldier who had trained with Richard and from all indications shared the same quarters. The letter was the first word concerning Richard which his family fam-ily had had in nine weeks, although they had tried in every way possible pos-sible to get some word from him. It was known that he had participated partici-pated in the major engagements in and near the Philippines but nothing had been heard from him since his last letter in November. Upon receipt of the letter, his parents immediately wired Congressman Con-gressman J. Will Robinson, a friend of the family, asking that a ceck of casualties be made. .Early Tuesday, Congressman Robinson sent a telegram stating that the casualty list had been checked and that Richard's name was not listed. Now, the family is anxiously awaiting further word concerning their son and brother, and the entire en-tire community joins in sympathy for them. |
