Show Care Improves Finish of Floors And Furniture By PEGGY MASON J Floors that are highly polished and furniture that glows with a soft lustre are a real source of pride to the homemaker. Proper treatment at house-cleaning house-cleaning time means less attention to wood surfaces is necessary throughout the year. Once floors are thoroughly clean, you have your choice of two types of wax finishes to protect pro-tect the surface from wear. Bottled paste wax is applied in t thin coat and then must be pol-vshed pol-vshed with an electric floor polishing pol-ishing machine or by hand with a weighted polisher. The finish is very hard and will last' a long time. 4 vl iJ -s To build up a beautiful finish on furniture, bottled furniture polish is applied along the grain of the wood, rubbed to produce soft lustre. Self-polishing wax is applied by pouring a small amount at a lime from, the bottle onto the floor. It may be spread with lor.j; strokes, using a handled applicator appli-cator or a cheese-cloth pad, and 'hen it's simply allowed to dry It is very easy to apply, but must be renewed more often than paste vax. You have a wide selection of excellent bottled furniture polishes pol-ishes and the choice will depend on your preference and the type of wood finish to be polished. Always Al-ways work along the grain of the wood, using polish sparingly and ( rubbing until the furniture glows.
