Show LIQUIDATION FEATURE Of 1118 li GOII 1 . CHICAGO, Aug. 23. Liquidation waS a constant factor in the corn market to- , day. A decline in cash corn prices, rather! large country offerings and belief that 1 purchase of Texas corn in large quantities quanti-ties might greatly depress the cash market mar-ket gave impetus to the downward trend. "Laclc of support until extreme low prices were reached was observable. Corn ' closed weak and near the low point, prices being from 2c to 6c net lower, with September leading the decline. Final figures fig-ures were: September, $1.7S& to $1.7S December, 51.41 to $1.41. Oats lost from c to lc net, and provisions closed 25c to SI. 05 lower. While holders were disposing of their corn on the falling market, traders apparently ap-parently gnored a sharp advance in foreign for-eign exchange rates, which recently have been abnormally low. The rallies were feeble and only temporarily changed the course of the market. The principal buyers buy-ers were shorts seeking to cover. Oats fell away with corn, but within narrower limits Trade was largely local, with country offerings moderate. In the provisions market the early gain Induced by improved foreign exchange figures and a suggestion of better cash business was followed by a sharp reaction. reac-tion. The late market exhibited weakness weak-ness similar to the decline in corn values. Closing figures were 25c to $1.05 lower, with October pork showing the greatest decline.
