Show Veteran Boxer to Do Battle at Mackay JIM FLYNN. f. -V v-t S J TIM FLYNN, the famous Pueblo fire-" fire-" man, passed through Salt Lake yesterday yes-terday on his way to Mackay, Idaho, where, on September G, he will engage in a ring contest. Jim doesn't know the name of his prospective opponent, but has been informed that he weighs 209 pounds. This is Flynn's twentieth year In pugilism, pu-gilism, and he proposes to conclude his career with the end of the twelvemonth. "Twenty years in the ring," says Jim. "is long enough for anybody. Next year I am going to start developing my hog and poultry ranch at Pueblo in earnest." Flynn doesn't look like a man who has had hundreds of ring battles. In fact, he shows no marks at all of his matches, which, as everybody knows, have all been of the most grueling character, for Flynn has always been a tear-in lighter. The Pueblo fireman is the only man In the world to have the distinction of scoring scor-ing a knockout over Jack Dempsey, the new world's heavyweight champion. Jim put Jack out in a memorable twenty-six seconds at Murray two and a half years ago. Flynn would like nothing better than another whack at Dempsey. "I sure would give him all I had," said Flynn. "and I have a hunch that would be plenty." |
