BYWATEE of the Salt Lake department was among the firemen who took part in the production of the educational film to encourago prevention preven-tion of fires, which w-as posed at the lnce studios, Culver, Cal. The picture will be shown in public schools, women's wo-men's clubs, civic organizations, churches and fraternal societies throughout the United States. In recognition of his courtesy in lending lend-ing his studio facilities to tlie creation of the picture, Thomas W. Ince, president presi-dent of the Ince studios, was made an honorary fire chief and presented with a chief's gold badce by the firemen. The appearance of all the fire chiefs at the Inco studio in Culver City in full uniform was in violation of an unwritten un-written law that requires a fire chief not to wear his uniform o.utsidc th.e limits of his home city. This was the first time this was ever done, and probably prob-ably will be the last. It is the first time so many chiefs of the Pacific coast ever assembled in one city. Firemen besides Mr. Bywater who participated in the production of the film include: ' J. W. Stevens, manager of the fire prevention bureau of the Pacific coast; Chiefs Thomas E. Mur-j phv, San Francisco; Frank L. Stetson, Seattle; B. Frank Powell. Portland; L. A. Whitehead, Oakland; Louis Almgreu, San Diego; Walter Steinmetz, Alameda; Chief Coup, Pasadena; E. J. Scott, Los Angeles, and Thomas Grahaan, Corvallis, Ore. |
