Show GOOD CARBURETOR MUST CONSERVE GAS "A carburetor may be considered good or bad from many angles," remarked re-marked the sales manager of the Inter-Mountain Inter-Mountain Electric company yesterday, in speaking of the Bayfield carburetor for which his company are distributors in this territory. "But," he continued, "after all other arguments have been disposed of, the real proof of superiority superior-ity is in its ability to conserve gasoline. gaso-line. No matter how easy starting, how quick a pick up, how much speed or how smoothly the engine may op-crate, op-crate, if a car eats up gasoline without giving proper mileage in return, the carburetor is not giving the satisfaction it should. Especially is this true in these times when tho high cost of living liv-ing is a worry to everyone. "The amount of gasoline an engine consumes depends, to a large extent, upon the carburetor. If the carburetor provides a mixturo which is too rich, there is a certain amount of wasted fuel. Ifj, on the other hand, the mixture mix-ture is too lean, insufficient power is generated. This condition also is unsatisfactory. un-satisfactory. To regulato always the quality of the mixture when using various va-rious grades of fuel and running under many different conditions of roads, climate, cli-mate, speed and load, is a problem which everv motorist recognizes. "The Ravfield carburetor is provided pro-vided with three air intakes the constant con-stant or fixed air opening, and two automatically au-tomatically controlled air valves. These air valves are interconnected and operate op-erate in accordance with the suction of the motor. Fuel is supplied through two nozzles. One supplies all the gasoline gaso-line required when the motor is idle. The additional gasoline is furnished by a nozzle which is controlled by a tapered ta-pered metering pin, located under the automatic air valve. These two automatically auto-matically controlled air valves operate to give remarkably fast acceleration and permit the use of a lean running mixture, which results in the utmost fuel economy. "The Ravfield will give from 20 per cent to 50 per cent more miles per gallon. gal-lon. It is no wonder, therefore, that this tvpc of carburetor is being installed in-stalled on so many ears to replace other j tvprs which have never proved to be entirely satisfactory." |
