Show WATER STORAGE IKBEGi Provo and Weber Rivers Reclamation Project Plan Is Under Way. On their recommendation i the executive committee yesterday em- ployed A. l- Parker of Ogden to have j charge of the active work under their I direction. Mr. Parker was authorized j to employ such help as he needed, and lie will begin his work this morning. Committee Appointed. ; An executive committee of seven was I rtppointed to proceed with the work. This committee consists of lsanc X. ; Pierce of Ogden, Joseph E. Murdock, ! Kcbcr Citj-; YV. It. Wallace and W. . Armstrong, Salt Lake; State Engineer George F. McGonagie. J. L. Lytel of the Keclamation service, and J. Leo Median. Mr. Armstrong is treasurer of the organization, and Mr. Aleehan will act as secretary to the executive committee. ' A fund of $11,250, with which to launch the preliminary investigations, is being raised in the eight counties. Most of the money is in the hands of the treasurer. Pending this investigation of the water resources and possibilities in the Weber and Provo river courses, the executive committee this week expects to request Governor Bamberger to suspend sus-pend all water applications affecting these sources. Governor Bamberger will be asked to protect these watersheds water-sheds from further filings until the committee com-mittee may complete its plans and decide de-cide just how large its undertaking is going to be. "We have a project that can be made commercially profitable. The monev is here to do it." Mr. Wallace said at' the rneetmg yesterday. "It is now time that it sliouid bo undertaken, whether we have to do it by government aid. state aid or by private capital. There Is a tremendous tre-mendous amount of water going to waste front the Provo and Weber rivers every year, and there are large areas of land needing water here in the heart of the state. We must diaw up comprehensive plans by which we can decide what Is the best thing to do to bring this water wa-ter to the lands that need it. If we can do the big thing now, we ought to do it. If we must confine ourselves to one or more of the smaller projects within with-in the big one. we should get at those immediately. But we must get to work at once." Union Is Formed. Mr. Wallace, who has mane a study of the Provo and Weber projects for "the last ten years, and who has been one of the foremost m urging their development. summed up the task undertaken by tlie committee.
