Show TRANSFER OF WATER TO BENCH OPPOSED Special to The Tribune. PROVO, Aug. 12. At a meeting of the city commission this morning Thomas C. Thompson reported 'the action taken by the farmers coming under the Provo irrigation irri-gation system, relative to -transferring the mill race water to the farmers of Provo bench and the north end of this county. The farmers oppose the transfer. trans-fer. The question of paying for the mill race water was discussed and it was decided that the city commission should pay the power users, who have heretofore used this water, by assessing the respective water users by special tax levy on the irrigated lands. F. W. C. Hathenbruck met with the commission and offered to sell to the city water delivered at the mouth of Slate canyon at the rate of 1 cent per 1000 gallons, the minimum quantity to be consumed in 24 hours to be one million gallons. The proposition stipulated that a ten-year contract be entered into wherein the city would be given an option op-tion to buy Mr. Hathenbruck's interest at the end of a ten-year term of lease. The matter was referred to Commissioners Goddard and Thompson. |
