Oxavery "vVorkc-ris, an Austrian, I'b years of age, was shot through the left leg by Special Officer Ira Starkey at -l o'clock this morning when the man, who was said to have been acting act-ing suspiciously, refused to obey Starkey's command to halt. The shooting took iace at Twenty-fifth street and Grant avenue. Workeris was taken to- the emergency hospital at the police station, where he was attended by Pr. W. R. i-trown. city physician.
