Show EDUCATION RALLY 11(1 MT Classes at Fort Douglas to Give Soldiers Start in Civil Life. J An edurat ion rally will be hold at the lied Cross recreation hall at Fort Douglas at S o'clock this evening. Governor Gov-ernor Bamberger will preside and will tfive a short address. Jot'cssor Levi Edgar Young, of t he L'nivcraity of Utah, will speak on education, and Trygve Narvasen, di reel or of the Fort Douglas, school. viW briefly review the courses that will be given starting tomorrow to-morrow Jiiornin'g. Miss Deda Johnsou, contralto, will sin-g several selections, and Miss K. L. ISehuster's string orchestra or-chestra will piny. Following the program pro-gram an evening of dancing will, be enjoyed. 1 Equipment for classes in English, typewriting, salesmanship, sign writing, writ-ing, Spanish, mechanical drawing and other commercial subjects has already been obtained by Fort Douglas educational educa-tional department, which is located in the first frame barracks directly in the rear of the Hod Cross bui Iding. The educational building has been remodeled re-modeled and equipped as classrooms and Director .Narvasen lias an efficient s t a f f o f i n st rue t o rs. T he c la sses will oeeupy the morning hours, with occasional oc-casional afternoon sessions. The evening eve-ning hours will be taken up by lectures of a vocational nature. There are no prerequisite entrance requirements re-quirements and the only requirement will be the number of hours the soldier sol-dier devotes to a subject. Attendance is not compulsory, but an earnest invitation invi-tation is extended to all soldiers to avail themselves of the opportunity of either getting the rudiments of an education edu-cation or takijig such subjects as will be of material aid to them upon return to civil lii'c. The, credit system will lie used and regulation standards adhered to, so that in this way tlio Htudrnt will receive re-ceive credit by oilier institutions or every moment lie puts in on his work. |
