Nothing could be qmetcr, at least, on the surface, than Berlin and from what I hear all of ofinnany at present ia quiet. I have 'isked many people, who assured me that if the peace terms were harsh Germany vonld hurl itself into the arms of Russian Bolshevism. Asked when the hurling would begin, they only fdiake their heads and say: "Just wait." They pay the Soviets So-viets are biding their time waiting for the government to reject the peace terms and then the storm will break. 1 A good many cay the storm will break ' no matter what the government does, as there are a large number of people who are ready to start something anyhow. The majority of the proletariat seems to want peace signed and wants it signed quick. Then the question was as to how long they are willing to wait for rhe government govern-ment to got action. If the government does sign there is no doubt that a large healthy majority wdl start on the warpath war-path and the government Is in a fine dilemma. di-lemma. Meanwhile, everybody is waiting to see1 which way the cat is going to jump. |
