Tuesday evening eve-ning St. Lawrence hall was the scene of the largest social function of the week, when the Catholics of tiie district gave an ela horate reception in honor of the Kev. Father M. O. O'Reardon and the Rev. Father B. J. O'Donnell. Father O'Reardon is planning to leave for a six months' visit in Ireland. Leaving the United States in April, he hopes to re-turn re-turn to Fly early in the fall. Father O'Donneil will assume the parish duties during his absence. A manifestation of I he resort t and esteem in which Father O'Reardon is held by the members of his parish was evidenced by the presentation presenta-tion of a purse of about SSOO, which Justice Jus-tice M. Collins presented with a brief e press ion of appreciation in behalf of tho donors. Mrs. Anthony Jurich sang a number of beautiful solos, with violin ohligato by Miss Dorothy Byrne Meyers a nd M iss Viva Timmons accompanying. A successful card party was given by the Lady Maccabees, Tuesdav evening, in Cooper's hall, l'if-teen l'if-teen tables of "500" were played. The hall was beautifully decorated in red, white and black crepe paper, American flags and lodge banners, with pots ot ferns- The prizes were awarded to Mrs. Joe Peterson, Walter O'Mnlley, Mrs. i. v. Richardson and ir. R. Robins. Supper Sup-per was served and the hall was cleared for dancing. Music was furnished by Mrs. Louis Colon and Mr. Kennar. Miss Ktm-berleay Ktm-berleay recited.
