Show OPEN WINTER BOOSTS THE TIRE BUSINESS i The open winter this year is having a big effect on automobile business, according accord-ing to Manager Kantzer of the B. F. Goodrich Rubber company. Tire business is keeping up this winter without a single sin-gle lull. It is difficult for tire manufacturers manufac-turers to keen pace with the demand. t?ualiy this time of year is exceptionally slow In auto accessory trade. Open winter conditions especially as j contrasted with last year, have kept a big proportion pf automobiles running. More cross state touring is reported this winter win-ter than ever before in the history of the motor car industry. Of course, this is dtrectlv due to the absence of snowbound snow-bound "highways. We all remember that during December, January and February of last year there were very few days the roads were not clogged with enow, ice and slush. Just how long this condition will continue con-tinue cannot be predicted, but every day is a day nearer spring and dealers in cars, tires and accessories are rolling up sales totals never before heard of in winter. During the past year when war restrictions re-strictions caused an enormous depression in the automobile Industry, the big majority ma-jority of motoristg economized in gasoline and tires to the very limit. The patriotism patriot-ism of the American motorist asserted itself emphatically. Now conditions are different. It has been said there would be double the touring tour-ing during l!)19 than there was last year, even with no new cars with the 5,500,-000 5,500,-000 now registered. |
