Among those who are doing development work on a large scale in both Burkburnett and Iowa 1'ark oil fields of Texas are W. T. Wood of Idaho and F. H. Chapin of Kem-merer, Kem-merer, Wyo. The last-named came to Wichita Falls last July and has made considerable money here In the oil business. busi-ness. He is owner of one-third of the Perry-Browning Oil company, which has paid 100 per cent in dividends. . Mr. Chapin is also one of the trustees of the Burkburnett Oil & Development company, which has two producing wells and others drilling. He is secretary and treasurer of the Burk-Iowa Consolidated Oil company, which is drilling in block 3!l, Iowa park. Associated with Mr. Chapin in these two companies is W. T. Wood, who arrived on the scene of activity during dur-ing the Christmas holidays. Mr. Wood has been very busy recently letting drilling drill-ing contracts. He says: "The Burkburnett Oil & Development company is now drilling on block CI, northwest of the Humble well, which is making 2000 barrels or better daily. "The Burk-Mack Oil company is drilling drill-ing In block I, Wlgham addition, near the Burkburnett depot, and has two welis oi the pump and another in the sand in the H. Willis block of forty acres, near Burkburnett. "The Burk-Iowa Consolidated Oil company com-pany is drilling at Iowa park, where production pro-duction surrounds our twenty-live-acre tract on all sides. Our location is a mile south and west of the famous Wat-kins Wat-kins well." The sale is reported of a tract of land offsetting the famous Humble well in the "Herndon tract," to the Burkburnett Home company for a consideration said to be the highest paid for acreage in the proven field. This company is composed of some of the oldest business men of Wichita Falls and they are pioneers in the. field. |
