Show DE PALMA SETS NEW ROAD SPEED RECORD Special to The Tribune. SANTA MONICA, Cal.. March 15. The fastest speed ever made on any road course in the world was registered by Kalph De Palma, driving his Packard Special, equipped with aviation . engine, ill a time trial inaugurating the Santa Monica classic this afternoon.' The chain- pion driver negotiated the run of 7.396 miles in 4 minutes, 45 1-5 seconds, a speed of 99.36 miles per hour.
