CONVALESCENT soldiers at the Fort Douglas general hospital were treated to a matinee dance Friday aftor-noon aftor-noon by girls from tho sororities of the University of Utah, supervised by Mrs. Norman G. Atkinson. The dance was given in the novvly opened ballroom of the Red Cross building, which will now' be the center of social activities at Fort Douglas. ' During the afternoon membors of the Overseas Cheer club visited every man in the hostipal and distributed candy, cigarots and fruit. Impromptu entertainments enter-tainments were given in a number of the wards. Many soldiers are being treated to afternoon auto rides and evening dinner parties by tho peoplo of Salt Lake. Arrangements Ar-rangements can be made through the Ked Cross service at Fort Douglas to take the wounded men from the hospital hos-pital to entertainments in the city. Friday Fri-day and Saturday afternodns a large number of soldiers were entertained in the private homes of Salt Lakers. Scores of applications have been received re-ceived hy the Red Cross asking for joldiers to take Sunday dinner in homes of the city. These applications are being be-ing readily filled, as tho wounded soldiers sol-diers at the fort are anxious to make tho acquaintance of local people. Captain R. M. Jones, personnel adjutant adju-tant for the general hospital, and Mrs. Jones entertained Friday night at a dinner party in honor of their ' eleventh wedding anniversary. Later the couple were the guests of Captain W. B. Deas at a theater party. ALPHA CUT SORORITY of the University Uni-versity of Utah entertained at a lunclieun ve.Mprflay afternoon at tho Hotel t:tah roof garden, in honor of the resident members of the Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity.
