Show GARFIELD SOLDIER IN GERMANY EAGER TO RETURN HOME - f Special to The Tribune. GARFIELD. March 14. A letter from Private J. YV. (Bill) Riley, who is with ' the army of occupation at Lienkand, Germany, Ger-many, has been received by the young soldier's mother in Garfield. Mr. Kiley writes 1 that he has been receiving re-ceiving the Sunday issue of The Tribune regularly and that he is delighted at thus being able to get all the news from home. He adds that he does not expect ex-pect to be released from service until after the peace articles arti-cles are signed, which, he estimtaes, iwill not be for five or six months. It is four- I teen months today since I embarked from New York and they are sending men home who have been here only two or three months, and who never saw the: f ron t. "I was Wer here last winter and had to I work hard every day in the rain and snow, but I did not mind that, because l knew that it had to be done, and I was I doing some good. But I am kind of disgusted dis-gusted now with the life and will sure be j a happy boy when I do get back." |
